Service and Repairs in Our Workshop

To ensure your watch continues to run perfectly for generations, it sometimes needs to receive a little attention instead of just attracting it. This can range from a comprehensive service to something as simple as an exterior cleaning. Regardless of the need, a watch requires maintenance, and we are happy to help you with this in our watchmaking workshop.

In-house Workshop & Watchmaking

We perform services on-site in our own workshop. For newer watches, we normally refer you to the respective brand's workshop or authorized dealers. We can also service new watches, but you must be aware that in some cases, this may affect the potential resale value.

At Marcels Watch Group, we also have several partners when it comes to servicing. If you are unsure, just bring your watch in, and we will either help you on-site or point you in the right direction.

We do not perform services or battery replacements while you wait; therefore, you must be prepared to leave your watch with us for an inspection, regardless of the issue. Sometimes we can provide an estimate on the spot, but we always ask to get back to you with a formal quote.

A quote costs 400 SEK, which is paid when you pick up the watch, and only if you choose not to proceed with the repair with us. We will provide two types of recommendations: the first are those necessary for the watch to function properly, and the second are those we recommend to improve performance, such as replacing the mainspring or the crystal.

If we take a watch in for a quote and conclude that we cannot resolve the issue, you obviously will not pay for the quote. If you choose to accept our recommendations, the quote fee is also waived.

We do not perform "quick fixes" for what you might think are simple faults, such as "just" replacing the mainspring or reattaching a loose hand. This is because many components are interconnected, and fixing only one of potentially several issues can result in further necessary work or a watch that does not function properly. We provide a one-year warranty on all work performed.

Since we primarily service vintage watches, we use what we call a "Mini Service". This service aims to preserve as many original parts as possible. We do not replace parts that show some wear but are judged to function flawlessly moving forward. For example, we do not replace an intact original crystal or a slightly worn crown unless it is strictly necessary. Otherwise, the service procedure is the same as a "regular" service.

Vacuum & Pressure Test

Do you want to check your watch's water resistance without risking water damage? Bring your watch to us for a quick test to determine if it is properly sealed. It takes less than 10 minutes and is done while you wait.

Restoration

Restoration with us means a facelift or cosmetic update. This can involve cleaning external parts, polishing the case, or other aesthetic procedures. Simply put, these are measures that bring your watch into a better visual condition.

Valuation and Certificate of Authenticity

A valuation takes about 2 hours, and you will receive a valuation certificate. Authenticity is naturally verified within a valuation certificate. A certificate of authenticity takes about the same amount of time, but you will only receive a document confirming its authenticity. To book an appointment for a certificate, please contact us.

Transaction Assistance

If you are buying or selling watches privately, you are welcome to conduct the transaction at Marcels Watch Group for added security. You avoid inviting strangers into your home, and you get a basic authenticity verification during the change of ownership. If you need help drawing up a purchase agreement and receipt, we can assist with that too. Please always contact us in advance so we can prepare the transaction properly.

Consignment (Sales Assignment)

We can assist in selling your watch through our sales channels. We charge a commission for this service. You decide the minimum amount you want, and we try to exceed it. Since we almost always sell watches with a warranty, we will service the watch before it is sold. Any other costs incurred in connection with the sale are covered by you. Such costs could include card fees, shipping, advertising costs, or external commissions. We deduct these costs and the service fee from the sales price before taking our commission. Our commission is negotiable, and we always set a cap for more expensive items. We ask for a one-year period to sell the watch. If we do not succeed within that time, you will get the watch back without paying for the service or any other incurred costs.

The watch must remain with us throughout the entire agreed-upon sales period. If you cancel the consignment before the end of the period, all costs incurred in connection with the assignment will be invoiced to you.

We reach a large group of potential buyers while constantly advertising and maintaining visibility on vital platforms. We sell internationally, so interested parties outside of Sweden will also see your watch.

To sell a watch through us, please contact us via email at info@marcelswatch.com. We do not accept assignments with an expected sales price below 10,000 SEK, and we reserve the right to decline a consignment assignment.

Sell Your Watch to Us

We are happy to purchase certain models outright, but we generally do not pay as much as you might get selling the watch privately. The advantage of selling to us is the lack of hassle—no debates about functionality or other complaints. We buy what we see and pay immediately via bank transfer. You avoid negotiating with prospective buyers and won't have to answer calls, emails, or messages.

Trade-in

We also accept watches as trade-ins. Have you found something you want in our shop, and you have a watch that isn't getting enough wrist time? You can trade it in, and we will offer you 25% more in trade-in value compared to if we were to buy the watch outright.
